The main focus of the article was to invite people to try Vim, as it is not that scary and the reasons were only briefly touched.

However, there were more than 2 reasons mentioned in the article to give Vim a try, namely,

• Text centered
  You can pretty much focus on the text/code in front of you and hide other icons that may take your attention
• Many powerful commands
  These commands give you a lot of things that you can do just from a text editor
• Highly customizable
  It gives giving you a lot of freedom to adapt it to your needs
